Read and comprehend informational material on grade level and passing reading portion of LAB test. Read and comprehend informational material 1-2 grade levels below, scoring between 10 - 40% on LAB test. Reading and comprehending informational material 2-3 levels below, scoring 2 - 10% on LAB test. Reading and comprehending informational material 4 grade levels below and under and score of 1% on LAB test.
Writing (E2)
Able to express themselves with comprehensible language and grammatical accuracy without scaffolding. Students can convert instructional strategies into forming sentences and paragraphs with comprehensible language and reasonably accurate grammar. Can convert instructional strategies into simple sentences. Cannot write simple sentences.
Speaking, Listening, Viewing (E3)
Participate in group discussions, able to lead the group in discussion with near native fluency. Able to follow structured conversational patterns 100% of the time. Able to follow structured conversational patterns between 50 - 80% of the time. Able to follow structured conversational patterns below 50% of the time.
Conventions, Grammar, Usage (E4)
Demonstrates an understanding of the rules of the English language in written and oral work 90 - 100% of the time. Demonstrates an understanding of the rules of the English language in written and oral work 70 - 90% of the time. Demonstrates an understanding of the rules of the English language in written and oral work 40 - 70% of the time. Demonstrates an understanding of the rules of the English language in written and oral work below 40% of the time.
Classwork & Literature (E5)
Shows an understanding of fiction and non fiction by responding to questions about the story and able to express a personal or interpretive reaction to the work 90 - 100% of the time.
