PARENT INVOLVEMENT GUIDELINES

The Title I Parent Involvement Guidelines, which were recently released by the Office of Parent Engagement, are now available

The Guidelines serve to clarify the parent involvement provisions of Title I under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. Since Title I requires “substantive parental involvement” at every level of the program, it is important that the Guidelines be shared with parents within your district/region Title I schools. Please note that the New York City Department of Education recommends that a budget and spending plan be created by the school-based group (Parent Advisory Council or PA/PTA) representing Title I parents, and that the budget and plan are given to the Principal and SLT as the group’s documented recommendation on how the parent involvement funding should be spent. Schools must follow these recommendations to the extent that they are allowable, feasible, and consistent with the CEP and standard operating procedures. For more information, you may contact Juan A.
